Drum Corps Season - Reading Buccaneers!
After two years of not competing, the Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps are back in action! The Reading Buccaneers are once again proud to partner with G2 Performance in the creation of our 2022 uniform design.
The Reading Buccaneers have been working with G2 Performance since 2018, each year creating the ultimate uniform to bring our production to life. This year is truly a special year, as it is the 65 Anniversary of this corps. Our 2022 program, ALTERED: EGO, is about where we both redefine ourselves and stay true to our core identity. “We respect who we were, but understand who we are now”.
Our uniforms this year truly captures what we are going for. Both the corps and guard uniform reflect the traditions of the corps, but as the altered ego. For the corps, the back of our uniform is the classic Reading Buccaneers blue with the “Buccaneer B” and sash, our core identity that remains with us. The front of our uniform displaying our altered ego, dark colors with a Jolly Roger in place of where the “Buccaneer B” would be, and chains crossing the chest and spikes to give it a grittier look. Also included is a tattered drop cape to take inspiration from the grunge and metal era of the 90s. We chose to go with the sleeveless top and have arm sleeves that are blue with black bands going across. If you were to look carefully. You can see that the “B” is still on the uniform representing that our past and identity still remains with us as we venture into this new altered selves. With the guard uniforms, we went with the classic lines and design elements but with a color palette and fabric choices that make it look edgier. As Nick Tavares states, “If you took the guard costume and redesigned it in shades of blues and whites with a light and flowing skirt - it is something that the Reading Buccaneers Color Guard could have worn at any point in our history”.
Thank you to Nick Tavares and G2 for creating a stunning uniform that perfectly represents the Reading Buccaneers!
